Pow-WOW!!! 12/10/08

Tonight's session was productive!
Jason's drawings:
Jason started the night out with a drawing of a kitty that cannot be described without the word "cute":

Jason's other drawings:

This one has to be my favorite of Jason's drawings:

Mark, one of the awesome baristas here at Common Grounds:

Pow-WOW!!! 11/28/08

It was a fun-filled evening of drawing and exploring and discussion.

The young lady on the right is Ariel:

Jason asked me to draw a caricature of him, so I tried a few variations.
Version 1:
Ariel was a very nice and patient model (even though I was totally busted, she sat very still while I drew.) She said that Jason's drawing was "more flattering," he hee.

Pow WOW!!! II - The Sequel

Who says the sequel never lives up to the original?
Pow-Wow!!! II - The Sequel was as much fun as the original. We looked at some great caricatures by Jan Op de Beeck, talked shop, and drew.
Here are some of the sketches:

Jason's sketches:

My favorite sketch of the night for Jason:

Mikey's Sketches:
My favorite sketch of the evening for me was the first one right out of the gate:

I got just what I was after. Beginner's luck?

Some pencil sketches that were fun:

Pen & ink:

The next Pow-Wow!!! is scheduled for Wednesday, 11/26, 5:00 pm @ Common Grounds.
If you can make it, we'd love to see you there!

The first ever Pow-Wow!!! was small, and fun!!!!

We discussed caricatures, looked at examples, laughed a lot, and drew some, too. Here are the results...

Jason's drawings:
I LOVE these two:

This guy kept trying to hide behind his newspaper:

Mikey's drawings:

This guy did not realize that I had the luxury of time, and patience... I could wait for him to come out from behind his newspaper.

HA!!! You can run, but you cannot hide!

What to bring (items with an asterisk* are essential):
1. Yourself. (duh.)*
2. Sketchbook; pen, pencils, or other drawing implements.*
3. Items for discussion: samples, inspiration, questions, you name it.
4. Drawings for feedback, critique
5. Pictures of faces: friends, family, celebrities
(Us or OK! magazines are great sources for celeb photos.)
6. a buck or two for a beverage... or two...
7. Be ready to have FUN.*

I chose Common grounds partly because it was where Acme Comics used to meet on occasion, but mostly because it is just a cool place to meet. There are always plenty of people to draw there as well.
